The California Accountable Communities for Health Initiative (CACHI) is a statewide movement aimed at transforming the systems that shape the health of communities through a collective action approach called Accountable Communities for Health (ACH). ACHs are locally governed civic groups of residents and system partners (hospitals, public health, schools, public safety agencies, parks, businesses) working together to improve community conditions, address social needs, promote effective care, and ultimately transform systems to improve health outcomes and achieve health equity.
With the support of multi-year funding from both state and private foundations, CACHI currently supports 37 ACHs in 27 counties across California. This position presents an exciting opportunity to advance the ACH model and drive transformational systems change throughout the state.
Position Overview
The Program Director will play a key leadership role in shaping and driving the programmatic components of CACHI’s initiative, focusing on technical assistance, coaching, learning, and evaluation. This position will oversee the coordination and execution of these core program elements while ensuring alignment with CACHI’s strategic priorities and commitment to health equity.
The ideal candidate will bring strong project management skills, expertise in providing technical assistance, and experience working with multi-site initiatives. The Program Director will be a connector, ensuring that learning and insights are integrated into policy and operational improvements, while also building robust relationships with stakeholders across the field.

Key Responsibilities
In close collaboration with the Executive Director, the Program Director is responsible for
Program Oversight and Implementation:
● Lead the implementation of the technical assistance and peer learning plan, overseeing coaching, evaluation, and learning programs.
● Manage staff and consultants, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities, while overseeing operational details such as invoicing, staffing, and scheduling monthly learning sessions.
● Plan, execute, and follow up on monthly webinars and learning sessions to foster continuous learning and collaboration across ACH sites.
● Ensure close coordination with the external evaluation team to track outcomes and analyze impact across the initiative.
● Identify and develop issue briefs, lessons learned, and other thought leadership pieces to maintain CACHI’s presence in the broader public health field.
Knowledge Management:
● Develop and maintain a system to document, organize, and analyze insights gathered across the ACH network, ensuring that knowledge is accessible and used to inform strategy and operations.
● Contribute to systems and processes that centralize communication, learning, and collaboration across the CACHI team, utilizing tools such as Slack and shared calendars.
Stakeholder Engagement:
● Serve as a liaison between coaching teams, evaluators, and the broader CACHI program team.
● Play a central role in engaging with key stakeholders, including ACH sites, technical assistance providers, funders, and other strategic partners, to maintain alignment with CACHI’s goals.
● Work closely with the policy team to inform CACHI’s policy agenda based on program insights.
● Support the development and execution of field-building activities, ensuring continued engagement with ACHs and other partners beyond the current funding cycle.
Experience and Qualifications
Required:
● Proven experience managing multi-site, collaborative initiatives, preferably involving community-based health programs.
● Experience providing technical assistance and leading learning and evaluation 2
activities for complex initiatives.
● Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple program elements simultaneously.
● Deep understanding of systems thinking, with experience in public health, health equity, or related fields.
● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
● Commitment to advancing equity and a proven ability to work in cross-cultural, collaborative environments.
Preferred:
● Familiarity with California’s health systems and policy landscape, including relationships with funders and public health agencies.
● Experience with innovative data collection, analysis, and reporting methods to inform strategic planning.
● Knowledge of collective impact and multi-sector collaboration models. Location and Compensation
Location
CACHI is fiscally sponsored by Community Partners, and the Program Director can work from anywhere within California or out of the Community Partners office in Los Angeles.
Salary Range
$100,000 - $125,000, depending on experience.

Community Partners has a 9/80 work week option under which employees may elect to work 80 hours in 9 days and take off every other Friday (aer completion of an introductory period).
